Biography

George Leatherman, M.D., is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology. A native Houstonian, Dr. Leatherman graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He did his medical training at Harvard Medical School, followed by an internal medicine residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital, and a cardiology fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. For 13 years he practiced, taught and did clinical research at the New Mexico Heart Institute and the University of New Mexico Medical School.

He and his family moved back to Texas in 1998 to join the Longview Cardiology Clinic, now part of the Diagnostic Clinic of Longview. He and his wife, Susan, are active at St. Mary’s Catholic Church where Susan teaches religion at St. Mary’s High School. In his free time, Dr. Leatherman enjoys bicycling and skiing.

His clinical interests include outpatient cardiology, congestive heart failure and valvular heart disease. He has been named to the Texas Super Doctor’s list of Texas Monthly Magazine.
